What changed in each version, newest first. Each change is marked Added, Changed, Fixed or Removed, and says whether it affects the columns you type into.

Updates to the 2.x line are free for every buyer and are delivered through your Payhip download link.

Client Profitability Tracker

Previously released as Client Fees & Delivery Tracker. The files for version 1.x keep the original name.

Version 2.0.0 (in progress)

Not released yet. No release date is set. This list is what is planned; the final list will be published here with the release date and test results.

• Changed: renamed to Client Profitability Tracker, including the file names. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: a Start Here sheet with the version, setup steps with times, one Setup block for your business name, report currency, report month and theme, the "not for" list, the license summary and the support route. Inputs affected: yes (settings move to Start Here).
• Added: a Dashboard sheet that leads with the month's key figures and two charts of contribution before overhead, by client and by month, followed by a Checks block. The Summary sheet stays and adds the last 12 months. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: 10 named checks, such as totals reconcile, rates present and no duplicate keys, with an overall status of OK, CHECK (n) or SAMPLE shown in row 3 of every sheet. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: you type each client once on a new Reference sheet and choose it from a dropdown on the Work Log, instead of the client list building itself. Inputs affected: yes.
• Changed: Work Log columns. "Project / record ID" becomes "Project", "Reporting month" becomes "Month (first day)", each currency sits next to the amounts it applies to, and an optional Notes column is added. Inputs affected: yes.
• Changed: column labels in US English, for example "Fees billed excl. sales tax (fee currency)". Inputs affected: yes (labels).
• Changed: the source note for each rate on FX Rates becomes optional. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: named clear ranges, such as MV_Clear_WorkLog, so the worked example's demo data clears with the Delete key. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: a three-swatch color key on every input sheet, and a dark gold border around input cells. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: sheet protection without a password, so formulas can't be overwritten by accident. The workbook is pre-sized to 1,000 Work Log rows, 600 rate rows and 200 clients. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: a Light or Dark theme for Start Here and the Dashboard. Printing always uses Light. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: a changelog as the last section of the Guide sheet. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: print settings for US Letter, with Start Here, the Dashboard and the Guide one page wide. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: the client summary uses only functions that behave the same way in Excel and Google Sheets. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: a SHA-256 manifest in the download so you can check your files. Inputs affected: no.

Version 2.0.0 is a major version, so copying your 1.x rows across may need a column-by-column paste. The release notes will explain how.

A native Google Sheets edition is being built from the same specification. It is included free for every buyer when it ships, and it will be listed here with its own test results.

Testing: will follow the Testing Standard. Each environment will be marked "tested" or "not yet tested", with the checks passed, build and date, and the results will be listed here when the tests are run.

Version 1.1.0-rc1 (Sep 13, 2026)

The current version. Workbook with four sheets: Summary, Work log, FX rates and Guide.

• Added: separate fee and cost currencies on every row, so you can bill in one currency and pay delivery costs in another. Inputs affected: yes.
• Added: a report currency choice of USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, NZD, JPY, SGD, HKD or CHF. Both workbooks start on USD. Inputs affected: no.
• Added: an FX rates sheet for manual monthly rates, entered as Australian dollars per 1 unit of each currency, with a required source note for each rate. Inputs affected: yes.
• Added: rate checks. A missing, duplicate, zero or wrong-month rate marks the row "Review" and leaves it out of the totals instead of guessing. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: the Work log is now an Excel table that grows as you add rows, with no fixed row limit. Inputs affected: no.
• Changed: the Summary client list now builds itself from the Work log, with no fixed number of client slots. Clients with rows in "Review" still appear, so problems stay visible. Inputs affected: no.

Testing:

• Excel 365, Windows desktop: tested, 18/18 checks, workbook 1.1.0-rc1, Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows (Excel 16.0; exact build not recorded for this run), tested Sep 13, 2026. Worked-example print layout reviewed Sep 20, 2026.
• Excel 365 for Mac, Excel for the web, Excel mobile, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc and Apple Numbers: not yet tested.

Known limitations: contribution is before overhead; rates are entered by hand; each row uses one internal hourly cost; print defaults to A3 landscape, so check print preview after adding rows.

Version 1.0.0-rc1 (Sep 10, 2026)

The first version. Single currency (Australian dollars), with a blank workbook, a worked example and buyer guides.

• Added: Work log, Summary and Guide sheets, with net fees, delivery cost, contribution before overhead and contribution margin by client and month. Inputs affected: yes (first version).
• Fixed: rows with entries but no Record ID now appear in the review counts for the selected month and for all periods. Inputs affected: no.
• Fixed: each client's status on the Summary is now worked out within the selected month only. Inputs affected: no.
• Fixed: a reporting month with a time attached is now flagged, so it can't slip past the one-row-per-project-per-month check. Inputs affected: no.

Testing: Excel 365, Windows desktop: a baseline calculation check and six targeted calculation checks passed. A full formula error scan, a visual review in Excel and a print check were not completed for this version. Other environments: not yet tested.

Replaced by version 1.1.0-rc1.
